FIX: Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms

So, setting up a nice Windows Server 2012 R2 machine in Hyper-V for some active directory testing.

Allocating the minimum required resources for WS 2012 R2, as seen here , and just after selecting the edition that I wanted to install [doesn’t matter if you prefer Standard or datacenter edition, with or without GUI], a greeting window appeared:

Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms
Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms

So after some digging and checking some information, it turned out that the limitation of memory in the hypervisor is obstructing windows to perform some basics checks, thus leading to this rather unusual error for a fresh trial download.

After 2 minutes, the memory size was doubled to the “impressive” 1GB of RAM, Windows Server 2012 started its installation without any issues :).

Which again shows, that it’s never a good idea to stick to the minimum requirements for any sort of application/ program/ operating system.

Now Windows can find the Microsoft Software License Terms
